We are traditional, orthodox Lutherans.
We believe, teach and confess the Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe, teach and confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
We believe, teach and accept that the Scriptures are the inspired Word of God and the sole authoritative source for our proclamation, faith and life.
We believe, teach and confess that we are saved by Grace alone through Jesus Christ and not by anything we say or do.
We believe, teach and confess that we come to that saving Grace through Faith alone given freely to us by God.
We believe in the power of prayer!
We are a praying community that prays at all times and for all things big or small because God is Good! All the time. God is Good!
We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion weekly.
We believe Holy Communion is open to all who are baptized and sincerely confess that Jesus Christ is their Lord and that He is present in the Sacrament.

Principles
Christ the Shepherd desires to not only be a spiritual presence in the community, but also a civic presence working to partner with community leaders, businesses and organizations to improve the quality of life for those who live in the village, town of Schoharie and beyond. One of the ways that we do this is through our adjoining rented space called “The Living Room” which we offer free-of-charge to individuals and organizations as a gathering space for the community.
Christ the Shepherd strives to be a good steward of the financial resources that God provides and it is our practice to not accumulate funds or to fundraise. We are self-financed and regularly give away any excess funds (after normal operating expenses) through our benevolence by supporting projects and needs that are local, national and global.
